Project Objectives

Main objective of DIGITEX Integrated Project is to develop a functionalisation technology based on digital micro- disposal of functional compounds through arrays of programmable nozzles. Such technology will be fast and will use highly effective concentrated non-toxic compounds. It will be effective at ambient temperature under atmospheric conditions and will support a wide range of functionalities, thus offering a good balance between user acceptance and reduced environmental impact. A full revision of all DIGITEX project goals and approaches was performed in order to guarantee maximum efficiency of the project results. The picture below shows a synthesis of DIGITEX general approach.

Progress in the project will be measured according to the following parameters:  Quantity and quality (performance to standards) of functional formulations that are disposable in a programmed jetting way;

  • Ability to jet nano-particles at low temperatures;
  • Ability to graduate and localise the disposition of these fluids; Ability to develop host systems compatible with programmed jetting suited for chromic sensors and controlled release compounds;
  • Ability to develop multi-array nozzles; Ability to develop a pilot scale prototype;
  • Ability to develop garment prototypes on this basis; Ability to develop a monitoring system over the textile life cycle.
